Called To Make Difference

Called To Make Difference - The Calling of Peter

Everyone of us has his/her own purpose, and it is God who determines that purpose. The truth is every child of God is called to make a significant impact to the lives of many. Probably you are at work, home or even in a workplace. Let me tell this you are there to make a difference exactly where you are and who you are. This preaching focus to the calling of Peter. Let's study of his life and how the Lord used him to extend the kingdom of God.

Peter is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus (Matthew 10:2) . The Lord called him and he made a significant impact in the ministry of God. In Acts. 5:15 "people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed". Wow! by just the shadow of Peter (because the Spirit of the Lord is with him) people got healed! When he preached in the Acts 2:41-2:46, 3,000 people got saved for just a day! It so amazing miracle happened because of the life of Peter. On the other hand we know that he betrayed Jesus for three times! (John 18:25-27). Peter finished the race by making difference to the lives of many people despite of his imperfections. Let's take a look how it's started and why Jesus called Peter to be part of his work. We will be learning so many things to the life of Peter.

Luke 5:1-11

One day as Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around Him and listening to the Word of God, He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked Him to put out a little from shore. Then He sat down and taught the people from the boat. When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had gone so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and  so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” So  they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed Him.

Things We Need to Realize

1. God did not called the qualified but He qualifies the called.
Jesus called Peter even He knows that Peter will betray Him before He came to His way to the cross, He knows all the imperfection of Peter, He knows the identity of Peter. Typically Peter is a fisherman but Jesus turn him to Fisher's of men.
Same thing with life, we are called by the Lord for who He is not for who we are. We are who we are because of who He is. In making difference let's always bare in mind that it is God who will create an impact not just us. He qualifies people He calls, so worry not in answering the call of God, because He is with you.

2. God wants our obedience not our opinion.

God called us and He wants us to respond with a YES. Just obey the Lord, just trust Him the Bible says that those who put their trust to God will never put to shame. Don't question Him, don't say anything just say YES LORD, YES LORD, YES YES LORD.

3. God called you exactly who you are and where you are.
Profession, age, skills. These things are not the key to make a difference. Who God is does! . God called Peter as a Fisherman. Who are you and wherever you are right now, God called you to make difference to that place. Just be certain to His call for you.

Conclusion:

God called us to make a difference. All you have to do is to answer His call and obey Him. Focus your eyes on who He is and the more you will know who you are. You are Holy, Righteous and Blameless in His Sight! Pray that through your life kingdom of God will be extended. Lost will be found, sick will be healed, and people will get to know Jesus.
